The biryani has an uncertain origin, some authors indicate its possible Persian origin because the denomination of the plate comes from Persian beryān that means "fried before cooking".

The venison can be eaten in fillets, turnós, roasts, sausages, in cecina or chopped. It tastes like veal. It tends to have a finer texture and be leaner than equivalent cuts of veal, but can also be hard.

Sometimes the grafts are also consumed, but they are not called "deer" but the term "deer" is preferred (as in deer pie). Deer have fewer calories, cholesterol and fat than most cuts of beef, pork and lamb, about 158 kcal per 100 g.
